Shawn Serfas is an abstract painter whose work explores the space where landscape, memory, and perception converge. Drawing on themes of relational abstraction and environmental aesthetics, his paintings move between representation and pure form, reflecting a lifelong attentiveness to the natural world.
Raised in Prince Albert, Saskatchewan, at the edge of the northern boreal forest, that terrain of open water, dense treeline, and shifting light remains a quiet but persistent presence in his work. He holds a Master of Fine Arts and teaches as an Associate Professor of Visual Art at the University of British Columbia. He now lives and paints in the Okanagan region of British Columbia.
